VIKPA MEMBERSHIP

Fees
The Vancouver Island Kidney Patients' Association (VIKPA) is a registered non-profit society and registered Canadian Charity. The main purpose is to provide for the comfort measures and promote the general welfare of the renal patient community on Vancouver Island. VIKPA is engaged in many areas that affect renal patient quality of life.

Membership fees are $10 per year, from January 1st to December 31st each year. Memberships renewed after November 1st are good until the end of the following year. We also invite you to make a financial contribution, if you are able, or to ask how you can volunteer your time or services.

The membership application form and the financial contribution form are part of our brochure. You can pick one up at any of the renal units or contact us to have one mailed to you.

Members in Good Standing
A member shall be considered to be in good standing except for a member who has failed to pay their annual membership dues.
VIKPA membership fees are due January 1st to December 31st each year. All unrenewed memberships are no longer in good standing at this point. After two months (March 1st) those memberships not in good standing are delinquent and may be removed from the membership list at this point.
Members not in good standing no longer receive the benefits of membership.

They may not vote at meetings.
They may not hold office.
They and their family are not eligible to apply for The Gordon Duthie Bursary.

Membership costs are very low. Please do not let your VIKPA membership lapse.

Volunteering
VIKPA has been serving patients for over 40 years and is run entirely by volunteers, most of which are renal patients. The board and executive is elected in February (at the AGM meeting) of each year by our membership. We depend upon our volunteers to raise funds, to stand on hospital committees (representing renal patients' interests), to determine the best use of our funds, for computer work, for public relations and in the production of our newsletter.
